I started my last post by saying, "This cracks me up." I'm starting this post by saying, "This makes me both sad and angry."
It's about abortion. Abortion the single issue socially and politically I cannot "see the other side of." It's apparent that it's taking the life of a child who is completely helpless. I see it as the worst form of murder. It saddens me to know that so many people lose their lives this way.
[I] believe that a person should be able to control what happens to their own body. That is why I believe that nobody should be able to [destroy] the body of another human being, born or unborn. Preventing violent crime, such as murder or rape, is one of the fundamental duties of government, as [we] should understand. It is, therefore, the duty of the government to ensure that no human being may violently destroy the life of another, even if the former has unintentionally concieved the latter.
The United States is a democracy, but what makes us great is not majority rule, but minority rights. One group may not trample the rights of another simply because the first has a majority. Human rights belong to all human beings. Minority groups have, throughout America's history, been oppressed by the majority, be they African-Americans, Hispanics, or members of a minority religion. They have all fought for their rights, and slowly they are winning them. Unborn children, however, lack a voice with which to demand rights and protection. It is for this reason that those of us in America who retain morality choose to stand and speak for them, demanding that the United States government protect this group from their own murderous parents.

I was considering the statistics and I'll share them with you.
Causes of death in the United States in 2004:
Abortion | 1,222,100 | Heart disease | 652,486 | Cancer | 553,888 | Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases) | 150,074 | Chronic lower respiratory diseases | 121,987 | Accidents (unintentional injuries) | 112,012 | Diabetes | 73,138 | Alzheimer's disease | 65,965 | Influenza/Pneumonia | 59,664 | Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis | 42,480 | Septicemia | 33,373 |
In another publication from the "pro-abortion" side, I read this:
"Induced abortion in the United States is now an extremely safe procedure; injuries and deaths from abortion are rare."
Doesn't a death occur in every abortion performed!?!?! Again, I can't understand it.
